back from storyland
so, as you may have heard over on my wife’s page, storyland is not for pussies.
that’s ok, though, because according to the litany of accusations, i’m much more of a dick than i am a pussy.
we had a great time. i got yelled at a few times for always having the camera in my hand, but i reiterated that everyone will be enjoying the pictures for a very long time. i don’t mind being the photog: it started a long time ago when my parents bought a VHS video recorder. there aren’t many shots of me.
in any event, i’m going to pull out some of my own favorites from the trip. hold on tight…

on some technical notes, i finally made the jump to an all RAW workflow, and started using adobe lightroom as my primary photo organizer/publishing tool. nothing beats photoshop as a per-pixel editor, and it is far more powerful, but LR has some definite advantages for quick global adjustments. i’m using version 2.0, released a few days ago, and i’m liking it a lot so far.
compared to jpegs which comprise about 99.999% of my archived shots, i do enjoy working with RAW files. in particular the B+W conversions have more depth and detail to the grey tones. the non-destructive LR edits are enough for the vast majority of pictures. all of the above were processed and converted with LR; none of them saw any PS, which is a big change for me. plus LR has a really slick flickr export plugin so you can go right to flickr with the shots.
