i don’t have much to say today, so i’ll throw some pictures up…

the light was just right and she was being sofa king cute i just had to take the shot. there’s a little post process on it, basically a soft-filter effect that i thought went along well with the light.

i really love the colors in this one, and the muted contrast. it was an overcast day as you can see and i was playing around with a nikkor 50mm f1.4 lens of my father’s that i adapted to my canon 20d. manual everything is a pain in the butt but it takes some really nice shots. you can’t beat prime lenses for image quality! (especially not forty-year-old primes.)

i don’t know what it is about this one–maybe it’s the voyeuristic quality of peeking through the pickets at the “hot neighbor” watering her lawn, maybe it’s the way the post process came out (i was trying for a vintage look)–but for some reason i like it a lot.

another one i can’t quite put my finger on. i think it’s all of the lines here: the ballisters, the railings, the stair treads, the radiator elements… and of course the resolute doggy wondering who the fuck is outside her house.

And Chari’s bff Alena is so cute.

And Alice is just watching Tequila take another dump on our new grass.

I love these pictures. I like the softness and vintage look to the ballerina photo. Alice’s pic is amazing. The black/white, lines, light, everything. It’s perfect.

    These are just beautiful shots.

I hate to mention Degas because what could be more clichéd? But your picture of Girlfriend reminds me of the reasons those paintings reach right in and tug at our consciousness. It’s a fantastic shot. The soft, glamour look of the shot contrasts with its muted overall tone perfectly, and Girlfriend looks literally luminous. Beautiful.

I just love that last shot with Alice. Yeah, the hard, layered, contrasting lines make the shot. Alice doesn’t get the depth of field yet Alice is the only non-linear, organic element of the picture. So passing her by in favor of the geometric makes the picture a little unnerving. To make matters worse, at first glance we seem to be looking at what Alice is studying until you realize that she is looking outside the frame. We are missing whatever Alice sees. We see geometry and, chances are, she sees life we just can’t see.

Yeah, I over-deconstruct. Whatever. Awesome pictures.
