   i do not believe it worked for prince, but he’s not one to kiss and tell. incidentally the only thing preventing manic monday from reaching #1 on the charts was prince’s “kiss.”

   after a while you’ll start looking at the world a little differently… with a “photographer’s eye.” you never know what something will look like photographed until you take the picture! 🙂

    i hate to be sappy, k8, but i knew this girl was something special on our very first date: march 10, 1996. strangely enough, she always knew she would meet her husband at providence college, and that’s exactly what she did.

    four major factors:

    1) ultra wide angle lens… 11mm to be exact. this gets the cool perspective.
    2) slow shutter speed… 1/3rd of a second. this gets the blur outside the car.
    3) night shot.. gets the interesting highlights and shadows from headlights and streetlights.
    4) placing the camera on the dashboard… this keeps the camera coupled to the car, so that despite the slow shutter speed the interior of the car is very sharp.

    thanks for the note, emil. the 20d is getting a little long in the tooth but it’s higher iso performance is still pretty damned good. the second was iso100 (to bring down the shutter speed in such a bright setting) but the last was @1600, handheld at 1/10th and f/2.8 (it was pretty dark). jumping to 3200 is a big leap on the 20d.

    the frigging 5d mark 2 doesn’t even break a sweat at 3200!
